Considering your setup—dual boot with macOS and Windows, an RX 5700X graphics card, and a 1440p 144Hz monitor—evaluate the Ryzen 7 3700X against the Ryzen 5 3600. The performance gap between these models is significant, especially for gaming and multitasking. If you prioritize power and future-proofing, the 3700X offers better value despite the higher upfront cost.

The 3700x will experience a minor performance improvement. If your main concern is FPS, the gap between the two at 1440p will be almost imperceptible. Also, once the 3600 starts lagging in games, you can easily switch to a Ryzen 4000 CPU with an x570 motherboard.

Currently, it seems not ideal for gaming when your work isn't CPU-intensive.

What kind of tasks would suit you best? Something that gains from more cores and threads, such as video editing at 3700x, could be ideal. For lighter jobs like spreadsheet work, it doesn’t really matter much. Gaming feels almost the same.
