Compare the I5 9400F and I7 9700K in a gaming context.
Essentially, a friend is assembling a gaming PC and I’m helping him choose components. I’ve helped with picking parts and installing them, but I’m unsure whether to pick an i5 9400f or an i7 9700k. He wants a RTX 2070 and believes the i5 won’t cause bottlenecks based on YouTube benchmarks. However, given the high cost—around $1000—I should also think about making it future-proof. Battlefield 5 is CPU-heavy, and the i5 struggles there. He won’t play those games, but I doubt the i5 will be outdated soon. I’m also wary of Ryzen due to past issues like stuttering. In short, should I opt for the i5 for better compatibility or go with the i7 for future flexibility? Cheers.
Don't rely on a QVL checklist. If you're unsure, grab a Vengeance kit and stop trying. Avoid B-Die memory.
Consider the X570 for better performance or opt for the B450/x470 if budget matters more. Both support Ryzen 3600, but the X570 offers higher specs.
