You're thinking about upgrading your PC's clock speed from 3600 to 3700 MHz. Since you're not planning to buy now, it might be better to hold off and wait for a more affordable upgrade cycle. The next generation often offers better performance at lower prices.

The issue with the 3600 is that it doesn't offer value for gaming purposes.

I'm running a 3600 with a heatsink over 3700x. It really depends on your needs—if you require extra cores, it might not be necessary unless you're pairing it with a mid-to-high-end GPU.

You can choose the 3700X if you have enough funds. It offers 8 cores and 16 threads, making it ideal for demanding tasks like video encoding, data compression, or rendering. The Ryzen 5 3600 remains a solid option on a tighter budget, providing 6 cores and 12 threads with strong multi-tasking capabilities (about 75% performance compared to the 3700X). What kind of tasks will you be running with your new CPU?
