I don't rely on your CPU for encoding in OBS; I have an NVIDIA GPU.
No problem at all. I remember you have a dedicated GPU ready for encoding in OBS.
I’d prefer more cores. My machine is a 3700X and if you’re up for it, I can capture Task Manager while streaming with OBS. Just let me know! Using OBS with that setup can push settings really high, and NVidia’s NVENC doesn’t compare. (It’s way messier.) Please don’t use NVENC at all.
It works well for streaming, but I don’t use a DAW during the process.
CPU encoding does help, but NVIDIA's vncod is quite effective too. With Twitch compression, the difference is usually hard to notice.
I might need to revisit my statement. After reviewing, the new NVENC performs very closely—almost identical. My apologies for focusing on outdated details. The 20xx series cards had a strong NVENC feature, though it wasn’t impressive. For the 30xx cards, NVENC appears quite solid. I don’t use a DAW for streaming, but do you think DAWs require much processing power? (Setting OBS to 6000kbps and the lowest encoding setting works, but it’s near 90% usage.)
