I chose the Ryzen 7 3700X to upgrade from my 1600X, though my motherboard isn’t functioning properly with weaker GPUs. It might be possible to get an RMA approved, but it would take time and I’d need a working PC while waiting. This means I’ll likely have to replace the board soon. Between the options, should I pick the Ryzen 5 3600 for better IPC and lower power use (and slightly better game performance) or the Ryzen 7 2700X for more cores that could help with streaming? The 2700X has more cores, which might be useful later, but my instincts say the extra cores won’t matter much right now. My thoughts lean toward the 1600X still being viable, especially since the FX 8300 was a real issue. I’m an enthusiast and want to stream more often.
