It's a tough comparison... single-core versus multiple cores, and whether the 2700 can be updated. They perform better than the Ryzen 2 in this regard.

I agree. Gaming and some side projects make the 3600 impressive. If you own a company and your main goal is building a workstation, go with the 2700 to save about $60. However, if you mainly run Premiere Pro, DaVinci, or similar multithreaded tasks, I can confirm the 2700 will outperform by roughly 20 seconds during encoding. This holds true with 3200 RAM (expect up to 3000-3200 CL16 performance), though it's still reasonable for your needs. Combined with a budget Aorus or MSI B450 board for $80 and a CPU around $180-$150 for a 32GB (4x8) system, it makes sense to invest in a more affordable workstation. For roughly $600-650, you can get a setup that once costed $1500.

I rely on the 3600 setting and previously owned the 2200g model. I observed a significant improvement in performance. The opinions about gaming with light side work seem accurate. I haven't tried the 2700, but based on my experience with the 3600 it’s clear.
