I’ve already touched on this topic in a separate conversation, but it wasn’t fully centered on that point. I’m taking the time to explore it more deeply. In earlier discussions, many mentioned that the 3300X outperforms the 3500 and is nearly comparable to the 2600. I began looking into these CPUs and discovered that the 3500 generally excelled over the 2600 mainly due to its architecture. When compared to the 3300X, it was almost even, except in single-threaded tasks and workloads where the 2600 held an edge. It also appeared the 3500 offered superior streaming performance versus both of these chips. However, I haven’t found any credible YouTube channels discussing the 3500 because it’s often overshadowed by the 3600 for its price point. Personally, my question stemmed from finding a 3500 in sale for $131—it was the most affordable among the 3300X and 2600, even cheaper than some 3100 models I saw. So, am I correct about what others said regarding these CPUs, or were their expectations based on assumptions about SMT performance?
It's likely due to its specialized nature and limited availability in certain regions, while the alternatives are widely accessible. If it offers a lower price than the 3300x, it might be a better choice. The distinctions from other models probably don't justify the extra expense.
There are numerous ways to construct a computer, which means you'll receive varied results. For example, the 2600 could perform slightly better in multithreaded tasks compared to the others. This perception makes it seem superior. Similarly, many believe Ryzen excels in those specific areas due to its performance and cost-effectiveness, even though price-to-performance isn't a universal priority.
