I've been delaying a CPU upgrade for a while. My current processor still works but isn't optimal anymore. Most of my time is spent gaming and everyday tasks at 1440p. I'm wondering if upgrading to a 3700X would make sense given my needs. Will it actually provide any advantages now or later? Are there any Intel options worth looking into? Here are my current specs: i5 4670K, 16GB DDR3 at 1600MHz, GTX 1080, 8GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Corsair PSU. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Looking ahead, it's uncertain. It might be that by then most games favor eight cores over six, making the 3600 outdated, but today a 3600 still works well for a PC built around gaming needs. It offers the single-threaded speed you need, matching the i7 8700K setup, which is ideal for CPU-heavy titles.
