He needs to decide between MSI B450m Pro VDH max and ASROCK B450M PRO4-F. He plans to boost the CPU to 4GHz with 3200MHz and 8*2GB RAM.
They're comparable for boosting performance. I'd prefer a B450-A Pro Max instead. Manual overclocking on Zen 2 isn't the optimal choice either. It's usually better to enable PBO and let it handle things naturally.
Seems reasonable? That depends on the quality perspective, but it doesn't really matter.
If the MSI boards feature similarly good BIOS versions as they do on the MSI 970 Gaming, they are marginally superior to the ASRock models, though the latter remain functional even if more challenging to manage.
He could upgrade to the 4th generation next, if that's the case, what would you like instead?
MSI also assured to refresh the BIOS on their 400 series boards!
X570 costs a lot, but Asrock Pro4 is fine with overclocking.
