It varies based on your display settings, the games you play, and your current overclock level. A simple check is comparing the 3080's performance to your 1080 Ti; if it's roughly double under full CPU power, expect double the frames per second. Check your CPU load while gaming—if it stays below 50% per thread, you won’t notice a big slowdown. Above 50%, see how much above that number you are for a better idea of CPU limits. This isn't perfect because CPU usage doesn’t always match FPS linearly, but it gives a decent approximation. At 4K resolution, expect GPU to be the bottleneck, with CPU hovering around 80-90% in most AAA titles. For 1440P, GPU usage will still be high (80-90%), while at 1080P the GPU is less likely to be the issue.

My monitor has a resolution of 3440x1440 while my living room TV is 4K. At 1080p I play most games smoothly, especially titles like Cyberpunk and Red Dead Redemption with higher settings. I attempted 1080p at 120fps but the TV refuses it despite claiming support. Personally, I’m content with 1440p at 60fps. Seeing 4K at 60fps would be great, but I think a 3080ti or 3090 would be better for that.

I considered upgrading either my GPU or CPU this time, and then keeping an eye on the best options once they’re released. For example, if I get a 3080, I’d aim for the latest Ryzen or Intel processor, and if I switch to a new Ryzen or Intel, I’d follow the next-gen GPU release.

To stay ahead with the Ryzen 7000 series or 13th gen chips, your 8700K can keep up, particularly for a smooth 60 FPS performance.

i'm doing gpu first since there will/is a very big difference between current gen gpu vs next gen, with cpu there isn't any supply issues, on top of that we might need new psus for next gen gpus. Anything 3080+ straight up arent selling judging from the "sales" If you keep your 8700k and grab a 3080, you'll see double the fps, if you swap cpu and keep ur 1080ti..then uh...

This Zotac appears to be a reasonable offer. https://www.amazon.com/ZOTAC-Graphics-Ic...119&sr=8-4

It seems you're stuck on the ROG boot screen and need help. The issue appears to be freezing right after the logo, so pressing DEL might not work. Check for updates or try resetting the system. Let me know if you need further guidance!
