The i9-12900KF would likely perform better for overclocking because it lacks integrated graphics, allowing more focus on the CPU. It probably has superior silicon quality compared to the other model.

I’d probably think they’re quite alike. But if I had to pick between a 12850K (which doesn’t exist) and a 12900KF, I’d go with 9s for overclocking, 8s otherwise. (It’ll be interesting to see what time says.)

Currently, no one understands the full potential of the 12th generation processors, especially not which specific models will excel.

It’ll be a tricky situation. A lot depends on silicon lottery outcomes, so I’d decide based on whether integrated graphics are needed. Technically, the “k” model is more reliable since it can power both CPU and GPU while meeting thermal and power limits. The “kf” version tends to have issues with its GPU. But in reality, luck plays a role—you might end up with a solid chip or a poor one, no matter which you choose.

I remember Debauer conducted a test on numerous samples and noted that the KF in the 10th generation performed marginally better, though it wasn't significant enough for practical use. I’d retrieve the KF unless an iGPU is required for fast synchronization.
