Checking the comparison between Hitron CGNM-2250 and D-Link Wireless AC750 helps clarify their features. The Hitron is already installed at home, so you can weigh its performance against your current setup.

The Hitron combines a cable modem and router in one unit, but it has received poor feedback on Amazon. The D-Link offers just an Ethernet router, meaning you'd still need a separate modem for cable connections. Both models provide basic WiFi capabilities, so performance will likely be limited if your internet speed exceeds 100Mbit per month.

Oh man, that's frustrating! Thanks for checking it out. I was looking for a better option since Hitron isn't up to par. It works but falls short on coverage and has limited ports for forwarding. I often have to remove some to make up for it.

The Hitron could function in bridge mode, serving solely as a modem and permitting any standard Ethernet router to be used. Usually, if its modem works fine, it’s best to proceed with that setup. This setup involves two devices instead of one, but swapping out the whole unit might result in a router offering strong Wi-Fi but weak cable modem performance. Such combinations are quite common, especially on budget models, where performance varies across aspects. From a Wi-Fi standpoint, a low-end implementation could be the issue. More MIMO technology generally improves speeds, though many clients only support basic configurations. While most devices support 2x2 MIMO, the effectiveness depends on signal separation and routing paths within the home.
