Still, on my old computer I never relied on any antivirus software. I’d reinstall Windows every year, so I didn’t see the point in using one. I even use DeepFreeze now, but honestly, from what I’ve experienced, they’re often unnecessary.

You can't beat every virus on its own. That's why you seek assistance from antiviruses. Coming back to the subject, I believe Avast is a solid choice; I had negative experiences with AVG.

Avast. Given the issues AVG has caused in the past, I won't use any computer with it. Those constant pop-ups saying "your trial is over and you need to buy more now" every ten minutes, which I can't disable, are really annoying. The registry problems, the high CPU usage, and the memory drain are all too much. No. I won't touch it again.
