Currently I use an R3 1200 AF with an ASRock RX 570 4GB. The R3 1200 AF has a new 12nm version but it still struggles with the RX 570. On my ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0 motherboard, I achieved 3.9Ghz at 1.4V, yet it gets very hot—around 90°C (about 194°F). I’m wondering if investing in a better CPU cooler or upgrading the CPU itself would help. I’m cautious about spending much money and want to avoid extra costs. Could improving the cooling or CPU make a difference? Also, my monitor might be contributing to the bottleneck since it’s 1440x900. In tests, the CPU managed the RX 570 at 1920x1080, but not at higher resolutions.

You’d likely receive a Ryzen 3100 and an additional 8GB of RAM if your system is currently using 1x8GB. Avoid overclocking the motherboard—it’s not built for it.

Single-channel memory is clearly impacting performance significantly, especially since the original poster isn't using 2x4GB.

It might make sense to hold off for a few months before buying new CPUs, as the ones currently on the market could drop in price. If you only have one RAM stick, getting a second one will likely improve performance noticeably.

For instance, in Detroit Became Human I noticed a lot of stuttering, so I removed it. After recently transferring to my SSD, stutters have decreased but they’re still present. If you think it helps, I’ll consider purchasing another 8GB of RAM.
