I’m considering upgrading my i5-8400 to either a 5800X or a 10900K (or another option). The 5800X is available for $779 NZD, while the 10900K costs $789 NZD. These prices are the lowest I can find in New Zealand during the Boxing Day sale. My main use will be gaming—primarily GTA V, COD Cold War, Hearts of Iron IV, Battlefield V and a few others. For cooling, I own a Coolermaster Hyper 212 RGB Black unit, but I’m uncertain if it would handle the heat from these CPUs effectively. I don’t have clear guidance on which option is better since opinions and benchmark results vary widely.
