Only about 10% improvement per core is possible, even at maximum, which means 1950x no matter the load.

The 2920X fits both gaming and work tasks. With the recent price reduction, buying it for $550 could be a good deal instead of the original $860.

To play games you should opt for the R9 3900X, don't just swap out the motherboard. You might end up making a poor choice in value. TR is only recommended if you really need those extra PCIe lanes and dual-channel memory, and it's unclear if your setup needs them.

I examined that CPU—it performs well and is unavailable at most stores. I’ll check how Unity3D and Unreal engine handle it and its rendering capabilities.

This setup is being designed, so I’d need to exchange four of the eight RAM modules, the motherboard, and the cooling fans. Plus, I’ll have to cover all the associated reorder costs.

I bought a used 1950x for $250 a week ago, found it tough to justify the 3900X. Perhaps for my next upgrade or build, I’ll choose a 3900 or 3950.
