Community feedback suggests 4K textures aren't sufficient.
I'm not sure if anyone is playing this game, but I joined the modding scene recently and asked around for texture resolution suggestions. Most people said 4k was fine or acceptable, while one suggested 8k or quit. That caught me off guard—I thought 4k was sufficient but might be wrong. Have others been pushing for higher resolutions? I'll share some images for reference and won't mention anything inappropriate. The links are here: ... (https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/...)
Sure, I'm thinking about the team with its 2K textures. That's an issue.
I believe the speaker who mentioned 8k was trying to provoke. 4k is quite impressive.
It seems 8K will be the standard where it fits perfectly for human vision.
Absolutely, at Native it felt like one arc minute was the limit of human vision—though some might see more, so we might push to 16k. For those obsessed with placebos, it seemed a bit odd when they said they wouldn<|pad|> to not support mods. It felt contradictory given their claim of a community-driven approach. I think they’ll learn soon enough; Assetto Corsa has really grown because of modding. Thousands joined AC just for that, and many have since stopped supporting the RFactor 2 mod scene. Releasing a solid SDK makes a huge difference—more games should try it. It’s funny how the original concept had only 5-10 cars and four Italian tracks, yet now it’s so much more. Another issue with Project Cars is that it doesn’t feel as simulation-focused anymore; I’m not sure what’s driving the changes, but the physics seem off.
