You might already have a 2x8GB DDR4 3200 MHz kit. XMP can still work with a 2x16GB or similar, but it depends on your motherboard support.

My BIOS seems to only allow choosing one XMP profile, which makes sense if the profiles didn’t match. I’ve installed RAM with varying timings before and haven’t experienced any issues. I hope the sticks ended up using the slower settings from both sets, though I’m not certain. Ideally, matching MHz would have worked better; only the CAS settings would differ.

Combining two RAM sticks from different sets could affect performance, though the actual size doesn<|pad|> can work. Adding them together is acceptable. A total of 48GB should function well. However, each stick will operate at the same speed and latency limits.
