Amazon offers Corsair Vegeance LPX 3600 MHz RAM for $30 less than the 3200 MHz model. I already own 16 GB of 3200 MHz RAM from the same brand and wanted to know if I could upgrade to the 3600 MHz version and adjust its speed and timings to match the 3200 MHz RAM. The 3600 MHz timing settings are 18-22-22-42 while the 3200 MHz uses 16-19-19-36.

I’m more likely to run at the lower frequency, though it’s unclear if the 3600mt/s sticks will suit the 16-19-19-36 settings. Until someone with identical hardware shares their experience, there’s a 50/50 chance they’ll work together at overclock.

I considered everything carefully – safer to opt for the 3200 MHz instead.
