Combining memory from various kits of the same brand and model, varying frequencies yet differing timings
Combining memory from various kits of the same brand and model, varying frequencies yet differing timings
I've been testing a 16GB kit with 3600MHz memory for several months. Recently, I ordered another identical set online. The product page shows it's a 3600MHz CL18 model, not the CL17 version I'm using. Will combining these units cause any problems? For my motherboard, the B450M Steel Legend supports 3600MHz speeds but not 3400MHz. I've adjusted the overclocking settings to 3400MHz CL14 and it's stable. Running them at lower speeds might reduce stress, but it could also limit performance gains. If I upgrade to a future board that supports higher speeds, would running two different kits still be an issue? Your consideration about the price difference is wise.
