The serifs refer to the font I selected, which I applied using the macbuntu pack to influence others. I haven’t modified them since I’m lazy; I stick to the standard Ubuntu font most of the time.

On Ubuntu Mate, the default appearance doesn’t match Windows. By opening the Mate tweak settings and choosing the Redmond style, it will look more like Windows. Avoid Kubuntu or Ubuntu GNOME—they consume too many resources—and a netbook won’t handle them efficiently.
