Your school gave us Dell Chrombooks with certain limits, but I have two concerns. 1) Can I run a Linux distro like Ubuntu using Crouton to get past those restrictions? 2) If I switch to developer mode and do anything unusual, will the admins notice something like "This device isn't registered anymore"? Your advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Even when developer mode is enabled, switching to another OS demands changing configurations in the BIOS—though if the administrators are reliable, they might already restrict access. That means your chances are limited.

It turns out they actually did it. However, somehow I managed to take my Chrombook off the school’s shared network, which lets me avoid all the limits there.
