I've noticed a loud screeching noise coming from the PC. I'm not sure if it's a normal sound or something more concerning. Could coil whine affect the performance of the system?
I also dont think so, though theres also no reliable way to repair it. I think to get rid of the sound, just replace the part
It's tough to pinpoint the issue since I'm not certain what's triggering it. Honestly, I'm not even sure if it's coil whine. The noise seems like a scratching or screeching sound coming from near the top of the PC, about a third of its height. What else could cause such a sound? Also, the PC is brand new—just a month old.
In theory, yes. Coil whine arises from the mechanical oscillation of inductors. If this motion becomes strong or persists long enough, it may cause wear and brittleness in solder connections, potentially resulting in failure. I’m unfamiliar with it occurring in practice.
I've already looked into it—fans are fine, no cables being hit. It might be originating from the GPU, MOBO, or PSU. The PSU is at the bottom, but the sound seems to come from about two-thirds up the case height.
