I recently purchased an i7 8700k with a H100i V2 cooler and an MSI A PRO Z370 motherboard. How can I safely overclock it? What are the recommended safe GHz or MHz limits? Also, my Corsair cooler isn’t being detected by Corsair LINK—any solutions for this issue?

The Corsair Link isn't recognizing your H100 since it wasn't installed properly. (estimated based on the details given.)

MSI Afterburner is available at https://www.msi.com/page/afterburner.
I usually overclock to 3.5, but I prefer not to exceed 3.7 if possible. There are many videos online about this.

Regarding the cooler, I'm unsure why it isn't visible.

Yee_Man suggests using MSI Afterburner.
For the cooler, I'm unsure why it isn't visible.
I was thinking about overclocking the CPU.

I might increase the i7's speed to 5MHz, possibly up to 5.2MHz. If any issues arise, I'll reset the CMOS.

I would increase your i7's speed to 5MHz, possibly up to 5.2MHz. If something fails, just reset the CMOS. Yes, opening the BIOS is often necessary for overclocking, and you may also need to adjust the voltage settings.

DarkOutlaw :
You're trying to overclock your PC by reading about it, not actually implementing it in this thread.
Corsair Link isn't recognizing your H100 because it wasn't installed properly. (rough estimate from what you shared.)
Appreciate the effort, I'll attempt to reinstall the cooler.
