Code 76 then 13
Code 76 then 13
I returned home after a week away and when I booted up my PC it got stuck on Q Code 77. I searched online and followed the advice, but ended up at version 76 then 13. There aren’t many details about this problem, so I examined the motherboard closely. The odd thing I noticed was on the back side of the middle two M.2 mounting holes—it looked like something shiny was leaking out. Please check it and let me know what to do next. Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Ranger Processor: i5 6500K RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 32 GB Graphics: ASUS ROG Strix 1070 Cooler: Corsair 110i Thanks, Mihir
These codes are post-reference codes. Error beep codes, you should insert the speaker for error diagnostics. You can look them up here.
Q_CODE 77/76 corresponds to PCH DXE setup (specific to PCH module). Q_CODE 13 indicates CPU pre-memory initialization has begun. Begin booting the system using only essential peripherals—keyboard, mouse, and a single RAM stick. Check for successful POST confirmation.
Platform controller hub dxe is positioned exactly where the board was hung after the post. The buttons on the board would be useful to test again or use in safe mode after a clear CMOS.
I understand the process. Q codes function this way, and the issue likely stemmed from something specific. Starting with CMOS reset and memory checks is a good approach, along with removing the board to its basic components. If memory testing indicates a problem, MemTest86 could be useful.
So there is nothing wrong with backside with photos i have attached?
It seems the material is likely not conductive. You can eliminate it using isotropic alcohol.
