Hello everyone, I'm considering purchasing CoD 4 or CoD MW2. I used to own the cracked version (Skidrow) of MW2 and enjoyed playing it a lot. I haven't played CoD 4 yet. Could you tell me the player count for each game? Is it still playable, or is it mostly just for cheaters?

CoD 4 on console sees about 90% of players as hackers, likely around a hundred or fewer. In MW2 on console, roughly 80% are hackers or involved, with perhaps a few hundred participants. On PC, half a dozen lightly dressed neckbeards are debating why this is the best CoD, mostly engaging in hacking themselves.
It’s great I mentioned it earlier before making the purchase. I won’t be buying it, though—it’s a shame, even though those games are amazing.
I occasionally play CoD4, relying on dedicated servers and community moderators. There are several active servers with solid player bases. It seems unlikely I’d purchase CoD4 unless it drops to $10 or $5; at $20 it feels too steep given the game's age. I’ve noticed occasional cheaters on PC, but not in large numbers. You can check the CoD4 server list here: https://www.gametracker.com/search/cod4/US/ I’m not familiar with Mw2.
What a weird question! The UFO hack you're thinking of might be from GTA, but it's not something you'd normally find there. 😄
