The CMOS battery on your Asus ROG Crosshair 8 Impact Mainboard failed, and you're seeking a replacement part. You mentioned uncertainty about the connector type and polarity, especially since it's a standard CR2032 battery. You're looking for an Amazon link to a genuine replacement, as Asus doesn't provide clear guidance on purchasing options.

I’m having trouble getting to Amazon but looking up "motherboard battery with cable" brought up options on eBay. (Note: I’m really budget-friendly and wouldn’t pay $9 for a battery—I’d just solder the cable into a new one.)

Laptop CMOS battery options available online. Consider adhesive models or ones with JST connectors. Polarity can affect performance; if unsure, match wires carefully.

Swap the battery out. Secure the connected wires with electrical insulating tape.

And I did that, a bit too casual but it really does matter: the metal tabs only had one solder point in the middle, so I just bent them out and trimmed them off with my scissors. This gave me the right length to attach it to a fresh CMOS battery. I also recalled from my Zotac Zbox EN1060 (which I owned over three years ago) that the CMOS battery had failed once before. Using the same trick of just sticking the wires onto the new battery, it worked perfectly.
