Consider reaching out to them directly about the details. GOG, being a CD Projekt Red company, provides 100% DRM-free content without needing any client. They offer download and management services, especially for Linux users, but they don’t include cloud features like some other DRM platforms.
Cloud backups are extremely important for gamers. The team at GOG could learn from this. Steam and Origin handle it well. Uplay also does, though they once removed my friends' Assassins Creed Black Flag saves... That makes me a bit worried. For your issue, you should be able to save the files yourself manually.
they might offer DRM-free access while providing cloud saves through a client. A client designed to sync files to a remote server (along with other features) isn’t considered DRM. As long as you can play the game without the client and install it on different devices without it, that works. The client should remain optional for users who need extra features, similar to how Steam adds value. This way, those who choose it can download and run games independently.
I’m actually graduating in information and computer technology. Right now, without a client handling save file syncing, things might be tough when the Gog Galaxy arrives. It’s likely there will be, but adding it would probably not be too complicated—just set up services like Google Drive or Dropbox and move files around easily. I think the Gog Galaxy is going to be optional at least, based on what I saw during my beta testing.
Before removing the game, check if the uninstaller asks about saving files and settings. You can use free backup tools such as the ones recommended at http://www.in.techradar.com/news/softwar...877922.cms. It’s unclear if any offer backup options for Dropbox or Google Drive.
