Even when everything appears shut down, I still see over 150 processes active in Task Manager. That doesn’t seem right—what’s going on? I’m trying to stop unused tasks and make room for the CPU. Since I’m unsure which ones are safe to end, I’m looking for advice on how to identify and remove unnecessary programs without disrupting essential functions.

I'm handling more than 200 processes right now. Running a reasonable number of programs is typical for Windows 10. Cleaning up the task manager won't help and might cause more issues.

Having a lot of processes is totally normal. A good way to "end" the ones that aren't needed is by preventing from starting on startup. In task manager there is a start up tab. Disable ones that aren't needed there. Also exiting applications is task view, which is the upward arrow in the bottom right of your screen. Right click on apps there to exit them.
