What alternatives exist? I’m looking for a server or computer to extract images from a ready PC and clone them across 60 clients simultaneously. This setup supports a refurbished computer business. What hardware is ideal? Options include Dell R610 or PC, SAS HDD/SSD NVMe drives. We require rapid cloning and high-speed data transfer over the network. What’s the performance gap between 10Gb and 1Gb LAN ports? All clients use a 1Gb port. Which solution fits best? A large fast LAN switch or a 4x20 port switch?

Choose a server with the most SAS/SATA connections available. Maximize SATA SSD usage instead of focusing on storage size. More devices distribute the workload better. If clients are restricted to 1Gbps, performance will drop to 125Mbps. Ten clients at 1Gbps will fully utilize a 10Gb port. To handle all 60 simultaneously, you'll need at least six 10G ports plus a switch supporting 60GBps. For imaging tasks, you could install a 10G NIC on the client and capture at that rate, then detach it afterward.
