Clone of hard drive to SSD encountered problems.
I’m working on moving data from an old hard drive to a new SSD. I used Macrium Reflect for the transfer, but after taking the old drive off, my desktop icons disappeared and I can’t pin anything to the taskbar. Most of the functionality still works from the cloned drive, but I’m unsure how to fully switch to using only the new SSD. Neither drive is the boot drive—I have a separate M.2 storage that serves as the boot device.

You described a scenario where you cloned a drive, shut down the system, removed the HDD, and then restarted it with the SSD connected. Were there any problems during that process? Or did you leave the machine running while the HDD was still connected?
rive. The SSD held about 1.48TB out of 2.86TB, while Erive had a smaller 125.1MB partition from a much larger 796.32GB drive. I managed to clone the D Drive to the SSD but couldn’t transfer all three partitions.

12-15-2016, 10:38 PM #4It might be time to reinstall Windows. I suspect the system added something in the final partition E, but I’m not an expert on Windows or its partition handling. Apologies if this causes confusion.

01-05-2017, 12:50 PM #7hehe.. probably can't clone raid.. like that. can copy content.. those are secondary not boot disks anyway.. usually.. i have a raid 0 as boot disk 2 m.2 nvme's.
