hi so since i downloaded intel xtu my clock speed go to 3.8 instead of the usual 4 its not a thermal issues since at max temp the cpu is at 55 degrees any guess specs Cpu: i7 4790 GPU: 3070 Ram: Samsung ddr3 overclock to 2200 Motherboard: Gigabyte Z97 hd3 Psu: HXCorsair 520W
The i7-4790 is quite an outdated processor. It wouldn't be wise to invest more now, especially in 2023. The i7-4790 and its successor already limit the performance of the RTX 3070 you have. Keep it running, and plan for a CPU, motherboard, and RAM upgrade later.
For that model you’ll need a fresh motherboard, new RAM, and a new CPU. I spotted an i7 4790K for roughly $100, and you could also earn money by selling your older, non-K version for about $60.
It's really hard to get something around 400 dollars when you don't have much else.
