This occurs whether or not I overclock, but I’m experiencing very unstable performance in games with my 2070 super I purchased last week and the i7 8700. The temperatures are normal, but the clock fluctuates from around 2100mhz to 1500mhz. It happens consistently when playing games, unlike when I reinstall drivers or overclock the card. It only appears during gameplay, while benchmarks run smoothly. Performance in games is significantly worse than expected.

Do you have any GPU adjustment utilities such as Msi Afterburner or EVGA Precision set up? These can cause cards to behave erratically when multiple are active simultaneously.

Variation appears to function as standard operation known as speedstep. However, the multiplier for an 8700 should be increased at maximum settings. In Windows Power Management, configure it for performance rather than balanced operation.

Could Ram affect performance in some way?
