Hello there! I'm just starting out here and this is my first message. I hope I can find the answers to the questions that are on my mind. I’m torn between getting a 4K 60Hz monitor or a 1440p 144Hz one. Some older games haven’t been tried yet, and I really want to play them. Will upgrading to 4K cause any rescaling issues that affect my experience or image quality? Could I still enjoy the games as they are? Here’s a list of the titles you mentioned—please let me know which ones support 4K resolution. Also, is purchasing a 4K monitor worth it right now, or should I wait until later? Thank you so much! Also, I’m planning to use a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti with an 11GB AORUS Xtreme Edition card and a Ryzen 7 1700. I’m considering games like Fallout 3, Oblivion, Skyrim, Witcher 2, Hitman Absolution, Far Cry 3, Metro 2033, King Arthur 2, NFS: MW, Dawn of War, Crysis 3, Grand Theft Auto V, Metro: Last Light, Need for Speed, Rivals, Ryse: Son of Rome, Saints Row IV, Total War: Rome II, War Thunder, Dead Rising 2, Assassin's Creed IV, Black Flag, Tomb Raider 2013, Dead Island, Riptide, DM C, Devil May Cry, The Bureau, Bioshock Infinite, Splinter Cell, Blacklist, Company of Heroes 2, Call of Duty, Ghosts, Saints Row IV, StarCraft II, Resident Evil: Revelations, Alien: Isolation, Assassin's Creed Rogue, Assassin's Creed Unity.

Test them in that setting where the GPU renders 4K output, observe the performance, then assume it will look better on a regular 4K display. I don’t have access to my PC at the moment, so I can’t check the configuration directly.

Refers to OGSSAA and uses a 1440p display, appears excellent.

I notice many classic titles still look similar despite updates, but their visuals aren’t designed for 4K resolution. They might appear blurry or off so consider using high-quality texture packs. The very first versions are likely just upscaled to the maximum possible quality—probably around 144Hz since that’s what people say works well (I still use 60Hz because of performance issues).
