I'm feeling really exhausted right now. Mojang just dropped Minecraft Windows 10 Edition Beta. It's hard to tell their real intentions since Minecraft is already available. I’m confused about their motives beyond profit and that vague "skynet combine everything" idea. I downloaded the copy and played it for 15 minutes. Here’s what I noticed:

- Needs Xbox Live (ugh, Xbox Live)
- Smoother performance
- Buttons look terrible
- Menu design is poor
- Mouse sensitivity feels odd
- Countless bugs
- Blocks appear slightly different – I like that
- Selector works well
- Creative mode menu is mediocre
- Biomes changed a bit
- Bigger trees in some areas – long wanted!
- Touch screen support for surface users
- Skin purchases available
- Baby animals follow their mothers
- Better biome placement
- New grass block?
- Fresh biomes!
- Improved generation system
- Fallen trees! I still plan to stick with the original version

I hate Xbox Live and the current build is full of issues.

Do you need Xbox Live? I’m not playing. I thought I’d try, but I can’t.

If Mojang chooses to fully switch to the new version, I'll be going.

I'll need to look into it later.

Absolutely, agree. The changes are positive, but Xbox Live really stands out. It feels off mainly because of the issues. Without it, I might reconsider, though the interface and controls seem clunky.

If they made that change, Minecraft would cease to exist, and they realize the Windows 10 version is essentially a port of the Pocket Edition, suggesting a focus on tablet audiences.

the sensitivity is way too high—even at the lowest setting I had to lower the DPI to 100 and it still felt a bit excessive. The old lava and gravel textures look strange now, probably because it’s been a few years. EDIT: the boat mechanics have improved noticeably. EDIT #2 the music gives me that LSD feeling. EDIT #3: what the hell, my name is Rundownbus84996 what the hell?

It's completely distinct from the pocket version. Likely a separate release. I discovered fresh grass blocks and the biome placements are significantly improved.
