Your current storage is DDR3L... L stands for low voltage, 1.35v – the typical DDR3 voltage is 1.5v. You should purchase DDR3L (1.35v) RAM; the laptop can handle a module running at 1.5v, but both modules would need to operate at that voltage. This could cause your original stick to run hotter or overheat faster, or it might fail after some time. If the memory clock speeds differ, the BIOS will choose compatible settings for both sticks. Remember, timings rely on speed. For instance, a DDR3 1066 MHz CL11 might pair with another stick at 1866 MHz CL15, while this same stick could support 1600 MHz CL14 and other configurations. Higher frequency modules can run at lower speeds with better timing. It would be useful to know the clock speed. Sharing a CPU-Z screenshot, especially the SPD section, would be very helpful. Other pages also assist if you provide more details.

Certainly, when comparing CL11 and CL12, the bios should favor CL12 because it's weaker. As you mentioned, refer to the edit in the previous post... if you share CPU-Z screenshots of your RAM, I might be able to offer recommendations for what to purchase. Definitely a good offer, and it won’t cause much performance drop when using memory at 1333 MHz... though I’m skeptical you’ll find many interested buyers, so it probably just sits there unused or on your desk. It’s tempting to grab it for the price, but it might not be very useful in the long run.
