I believe I’ve cracked it. Cities Skylines 2 might feature 150 tiles instead of the previous 9 (or 81 with mods) in Cities Skylines 1. This insight comes from one of the earlier leaks: dividing 150 tiles into a rectangle doesn’t fit neatly, since there’s no perfect square root of 150. It seems they either designed a non-square shape or came up with a unique layout. What do you think? Would this arrangement make sense? Would it be satisfying to see such a grid layout? Edit: Also check the logo...

Would it truly have been challenging to complete an 8x8?

Looking at hexagons or triangles would catch me off guard, since most people prefer a grid layout and think they can easily achieve it in a city builder. Yet your calculations seem to hold... that could be quite a daring strategy if it’s accurate.

Could also form a rectangle rather than a square (10 by 15 tiles)

Might be, though very improbable.

From the logo, I expected hexagon tiles to work well. I believe they won't alter the core logic of constructing with squares.

Triangles as tiles might look unusual, but hexagons would be much more intuitive.
