For powerlines, I followed your steps until I understood that connecting buildings will share power, reducing the need for many lines initially. Depending on how far apart the structures are, you might need different configurations. To adjust the industry type, zone the area (as you did), then click the districts icon (three dots below the power button), create a district, and select the desired industry from the menu options.
Can't view it since I'm working. However, you need to position the industrial area in the appropriate zone—such as near trees for forestry purposes—then create a district and select the right industrial zone.
Have a dedicated sector to utilize the device that lets you label regions. After identifying the commercial zone, select the appropriate category—such as agriculture or forestry—and then choose the relevant tool like tractor for farming or tree for lumber.
