Chrome's homepage is being controlled by Yahoo and cannot be restored.
Hi, I saw my search engine switch to Yahoo recently. After resetting it back to Google and clearing everything except the search bar, I still land on this Yahoo page: https://in.search.yahoo.com/?type=783055&fr=yo-yhp-ch. I’ve adjusted the homepage several times and removed any odd apps or extensions, even those labeled Yahoo. But when I restart Chrome, I’m back to the same page. The settings also revert to the Yahoo version. Help would be greatly appreciated.
It seems you're suggesting there might be remaining items you should keep.
I’m really worried about saving my Chrome files and restoring them, since it seems the malware might be hiding there. Fine, I’ll begin anew right after this second scan.
Noticing the site is shifting to Yahoo, I think this isn't necessarily a virus, though its actions might not be ideal. It seems you should check for trusted apps or extensions that let you choose Yahoo as your home screen or add a custom toolbar. Since I can't see the installed programs, it's tough to pinpoint exactly what happened, which is why I can only offer general advice.
