I have a chromebook with multiple Google accounts. Using Google Chrome, there’s a setting that lets pages continue from where you left off. I also use a free VPN. Previously, after logging into my Chromebook, I would open my free VPN, then click on Google Chrome, and it would load many tabs across different pages. Now, each time I log in, a notification appears on the right side. If I click it briefly, all my Chrome tabs from the previous session appear again. However, I usually want to start with the VPN first before opening Chrome. This makes it hard for me to access my old Chrome tabs because I have to open the VPN first. The free VPN is available for download from Google Play. Even without it, I still can’t open my last Chrome tabs after logging in. My second Google account works differently: after entering my password, a similar message appears on the right, but I can click it and it restores all my Chrome tabs. Why does this happen with my main Google account? It seems to block opening previous tabs unless I first launch the VPN. Anyone know why this is happening with my first Google account?

I’m sorry for the Chromebook. It’s frustrating when companies collect data without consent. You can’t simply turn it off, yet the situation remains troubling. Even now, control isn’t fully transparent. This issue likely stems from interface challenges. Can we open the VPN before Chrome? ChromeOS is closed source but runs on Linux. It’s unclear how secure it really is, but you might be able to use another app for the VPN and encrypt your connection before launching Chrome. Updated June 25, 2023 by Bombastinator

The notification at the bottom right continues from where you stopped. For the second Google account, I can tap on it after the Chromebook finishes loading... or even if I use the free VPN and then tap it, the old Google Chrome pages appear. However, the bottom-right message vanishes when the first Google account loads. I don’t have to click the VPN program; the continuation message disappears once it’s displayed.

The notification vanishes as soon as you open the VPN app using your first Google account. It disappears when you switch to the second Google account.

You're experiencing this problem when trying to access your main Google account on your Chromebook. The restore prompt appears only after enabling your free VPN, and disappears once you connect to it. On the other hand, your other Google account still shows the restore message. This behavior isn't related to the free VPN service itself. It seems the issue arises from timing or delay in clicking the prompt, possibly due to how the system processes the request.

This seems odd. On the primary Google account, Chrome launches automatically when I sign in to the Chromebook. I can't even start the free VPN. However, with the second Google account, after clicking FreeVPN and tapping the notification at the bottom right of Chrome, only one old Chrome window opens.
