The title clearly indicates the goal, but all attempts to boost download speed in Chrome have failed. I need to transfer an 8 GB file, but the progress shows "20 days left." My internet connection is via Ethernet—no issues there. P.S. I’m not sure about my upload speed either.

I adjusted several settings in Chrome and checked performance using speed tests in a different browser. Your ISP charges for download and upload speeds, and your connection type varies—such as fiber, cable, DSL, satellite, etc. Please confirm if other programs or devices might be using bandwidth while you run these tests.

The outcome remains consistent across devices. Same result or different?

I'm using Ethernet with no background applications and I'm on a 50 Mbps plan. Appreciate the reply! P.S. When downloading from other sites, I get around 10 MBps—like Steam. I haven't tested different browsers yet.

I haven't tested on another machine. I'm using Ethernet, and without it the upload speeds improve while downloads slow down. Thanks for your reply!

I would first check to determine if the problem lies at the network level or if it's confined to a single computer.

Try different browsers such as Firefox and Microsoft Edge. Also, let me know what tool you're using for these speed checks—compare with speedtest.net and dslreports.com.

The speed test came from Google Speedtest, and I'll attempt to use Edge. Thanks.
