There’s no built-in way to reactivate developer mode once it’s turned off. For running Linux via USB on a Chromebook without entering developer mode, consider using a lightweight desktop environment like XFCE or LXDE, or boot into a minimal system image that avoids the overhead of developer tools.

This would function properly if the device wasn't locked down when pressing Control D, and only required a password for unlocking.
