The main concern is whether you actually require 32GB of RAM. If you need to inquire, chances are you don’t. You might also cut costs by opting for slower RAM speeds, as the motherboard will still function at 2666MHz regardless.
Do you require 32GB? Does 16GB meet your needs? Will dual channel enhance performance for your tasks? For gaming, dual channel provides an advantage and you won’t exceed 16GB. If you can upgrade RAM without issues, that would be ideal. But if your current configuration is for other purposes, the answer varies.
The issue arises when a platform requires an upgrade, it will likely be DDR5 and any effort to "future proof" your RAM won't pay off. Unless you're paying extra for speed without extra charge (which could be accurate based on some local prices), it's not a good idea. The simplest way to confirm if you need 32GB is by checking your current RAM usage. If you're pushing it to its limit, you'll need more. If not and the pagefile isn't being utilized, then you probably don't need it. I think you likely won't require more than 16GB unless you're doing something else.
I'm not sure how to track the page file, but the biggest amount I noticed in Task Manager was around 14 GB and it happened while rendering.
