Hello everyone, I own an X399 Taichi motherboard (https://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/x399 taichi/index.asp with BIOS version P3.90) and intend to run 5 GPUs—4 for machine learning and 1 for GT710 display output. I currently have an RTX 3060 in the top 16x slot, while the GT710 is in the first M.2 slot (using an M.2 to PCIe 1x adapter cable: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B09ZSP7HFR). I’m facing a problem where the BIOS keeps booting into the RTX 3060 and showing its display only when connected, not the GT710. Can you suggest a way to make the BIOS use the 1x slot for BIOS POST instead of the first slot? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It seems the BIOS has a feature to adjust the default GPU output. I sold the board a year ago, so I don’t recall the exact location. You might find it in the "AHCI settings" section under the advanced options. If you explore that area, it should be there. Apologies if I wasn’t more precise.

I checked the advanced settings and found no relevant options there. If the toggle isn’t present, using the U.2 connector—known to support four PCIe lanes—might work for your GT710. I’m also curious about how the BIOS handles slot selection since you’re unsure if it defaults to the first slot.
