Hey there, I'm facing a tricky situation. My desk is pretty big, but I travel often and want to work on development while on the move. Unreal Engine 5 is what I'm after. I was considering a new laptop, specifically the RTX 3060, since it seems to offer great value. On one side I have the HP Omen 16 with an i5-11400H, and a 3060 GPU; on the other, the Asus TUF A17 with a bigger screen and a Ryzen 7. But I don’t like the gaming-focused feel of those options. Also, living in South Africa makes prices high, so adding an extra 8GB SSD would push the cost to around R26,500 (about 1526 USD) for the A17 or R1340 for the Omen. My existing SSDs are fine, both have 1080p at 144Hz. I’m trying to decide what fits my budget and needs.

The Tuff also features a Mux switch, unlike the Omen who don't.

I recommend checking out RX laptops as well. For instance, the Asus G14/g15 AMD advantage page is here: https://rog.asus.com/laptops/rog-strix/2...on-series/. The RX 6800 offers a similar price to the RTX 3060 but delivers significantly better performance. It’s currently listed at around 1700€, though you might find deals as low as 1500€ or even 1400€. It’s just this particular model. I’d suggest the RX 6800M as the best value. Of course, this is just my opinion.

Thanks for your response. I confirmed that only models with RTX 3050 or 3070 Ti are available, and they’re pricier than the 3060. South African prices are quite steep.

If you don’t have an RX 6800M, the RTX 3060 makes a solid alternative. When comparing laptops with similar specs, focus on reviews to see which features matter most to you—like longer battery life, superior camera, better sound, extra ports, improved keyboard, touchpad, or build quality. Pick what aligns with your needs and make a decision accordingly.

Hey there, your thoughts on this situation seem a bit unusual. With the new laptop options popping up—especially the Asus Tuf A15 and the RTX 3060—plus the 16GB RAM model, it’s hard to say what’s best. I was thinking about upgrading, but now I’m comparing it to a Samsung monitor that handles 8,10, and 12-bit colors with great precision. That’s impressive, especially since the listing mentioned it. Also, the dual-channel setup with DDR5 memory sounds promising for performance. Just make sure you’re not missing anything about how the IPS display handles color accuracy. If you have more details, I’d appreciate a quick check!
