Google at 8.8.8.8 is generally favored for its strong security and privacy features, while CloudFlare at 1.1.1.1 offers excellent caching and performance benefits. The choice depends on your priority: security or speed.

Focus solely on speed if that’s your priority. Otherwise, both options offer similar security levels. 1.1.1.1 was provided by CloudFlare through APNAC for a privacy initiative, while 8.8.8.8 appears to be Google favoring data collection.

It wasn't a Google search and it felt quicker for me.

For quick access you can't surpass Google. Their infrastructure spans all regions globally.

Run a DNS performance test to identify the fastest connection. Compare results from Google, Cloudflare, and Cisco for optimal results.

Not relying on Cloudflare because it consistently performs better. Their focus on privacy is the reason many choose them. It truly delivers the key functions of DNS—speed and confidentiality. Why think about Google when it lacks both of these essential qualities?

Perform a real DNS benchmark to see which server performs best in your area. Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 usually wins over Google 8.8.8.8, but I favor Quad9 9.9.9.9 because they block known malware sites, which I find more important than a tiny speed boost.

It's just mentioning Google latency is quick doesn't mean I rely on it. Privacy isn't my priority—I used Google DNS before, but now I prefer dnscrypt because it works better for bypassing blocked sites.

In most cases, Cloudflare delivers quicker DNS responses compared to Google, though this isn't always the case for everyone. For me, 1.1.1.1 performs better than 8.8.8.8, but a nearby friend's testing suggests otherwise. Both providers prioritize privacy, committing to clear logs every 24 or 48 hours, with Cloudflare having an additional partner managing compliance. Ultimately, it depends on speed preferences and personal trust in the services.
