It was completely different from what others dislike. That mess is claimed to be it, but people usually overstate that part... Yes, I used version 8 (kind of) and I enjoyed it. No problem with the new start menu. And if you know how to navigate it, it could even outperform version 7...

Actually, I think I’ve lost track of it—what I recall was it loading completely. I might try dual boot just to check. That could be a good reason, since Windows 10 seems better for gaming if I’m remembering Windows 8. The visuals were interesting though; performance wasn’t my concern at the time.

You could try dual booting temporarily to refresh your perspective on Windows 8's user experience. I believe the start menu might annoy you quickly.

That's what I appreciated—the design was straightforward yet effective (in my view).

Choose 10 from 8 or 10. Consider 7 from 8 or 10. Decide based on personal preference. If privacy and control matter, opt for 7. Avoid 10 unless you're comfortable with changes via guides, command prompts, or third-party tools.

I haven't ever used Progman.exe much. It wasn't a big deal for me. There was no incentive for me to... And honestly, Windows 95 felt great when it launched. I got an upgraded version probably...
