I'll rely on my PC mostly for gaming R6S, CS, Apex and occasionally for work. VMware does the 3900x + Mb option worth about $300 extra, or should I keep the 3700x + Mb which costs around $550?
Keep the funds saved and purchase the 3700X. You won't see any change in those games, and you can allocate that money to a more powerful graphics card.
I already have 2070 super, G skill Neo 3600, but I’m unsure if the 3900x is worth it. I might choose the 3700x instead to get a better Mb speed, considering the mixed feedback on the Asus x570 tuf.
I don't really follow AMD or Intel motherboard updates... I barely keep up with Intel ones either. But what I can share is that the models likely to perform best are those manufacturers anticipate selling most. For Asus, their -A board is usually a reliable choice. Investing more in a high-end board doesn't automatically mean it's superior. Nowadays, the motherboard is less about performance and more about features like built-in Wi-Fi or RGB options, or multiple M.2 slots for NVMe drives. Generally, any reputable brand—like Asus, ASRock, Gigabyte, MSI, EVGA—will work fine. The most popular model tends to be the most stable, since it gets more BIOS updates and testing. It's basically a numbers game; if a company expects 10 times as many units of model A versus B, A will get more testing to prevent unnecessary returns. TLDR: pick the board that fits your needs, and higher cost doesn't guarantee better performance.
