Hey everyone, a friend of mine inquired about the Windows 10 for Workstation OS. I'm not familiar with it, but since I'm putting one together, it caught my interest. From what I see, it might be a bit too much for my near future workstation, and I can't confirm if it really boosts performance as claimed. My setup will include an AMD Ryzen TR 2950X, Corsair Vengeance 64GB, 3200mhz quad channel, Nvidia RTX 2080Ti, Zenith Extreme motherboard, and a standard Samsung 860 EVO SSD (I might upgrade to Pro versions if needed). Since I haven't found any discussions online about it, it could be quite interesting.

It's likely too much for your setup. Without many CPUs or large RAM, you probably won't need multiple processors or big memory unless you're running virtual machines (like Windows) or using BitLocker. The Home version should suffice.

Download and install the consumer version completely legally without any license. You can test it and check if it meets your requirements; just be aware of a watermark.

I checked the details... MS refers to "workstation" as multi-socket setups, not a server. There are additional features inside, but unless you require them, there’s little benefit for home or professional use.

I might consider trying the Consumer Version later, as I wasn’t aware there was one available for that version. I think I’ll likely Benchmark them completely wrong since I never built something at that size (hoping Linus can help). Because the extra features are usable, it won’t be too much trouble to spend a bit more money on it.
