I'm searching for budget-friendly DDR4 32GB (two 16GB modules) at 3200 or 3600 MHz, total cost under $130. I need only two DIMMs due to my Noctua NH-U12S SE-AM4 cooler. I've checked Asus support pages but haven't found a match for the UEFI AMP/XMP speed settings. It's possible it still works, so I'm hoping someone with an Asus TUF Gaming X570-Pro WiFi and similar specs will confirm reliability at rated speeds. I'm sharing the model numbers here but can link to Newegg if needed. Amazon is also acceptable depending on the seller. For all manufacturers, I just want two 16GB units. The first option is G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 32GB F4-3200C16D-32GVK. The next is Corsair Vengeance at $118 for 3600 MHz. Other picks include the Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro at $139 and G.SKILL Trident Z Neo (AMD Ryzen) at $129.99. I'm also checking Asus memory options that support AMP/XMP. The component most likely to achieve its XMP rated speed is the Ripjaws V. With a solid 3200mt/s memory controller, this would be an excellent choice for overclocking. The Trident Z Neo’s timing specs (18-22-22) are too poor to be practical, but that’s why it’s considered “AMD compatible”—it would need extremely tight timings to reach higher speeds, which is rare. The other units around CL18 could be a safe bet for starting at 3200CL16 and adjusting later if needed. The jump from 3200mt/s to 3600mt/s is about 5000mb/s in read/write capacity. In gaming, the GPU and VRAM will handle most rendering, so any difference in memory clocks should only affect performance by a few percent—around 1-2% FPS max. Good luck!

Cl14 AMD is ready... probably we could apply that sticker to any RAM setup. Who would guess? Not sure about a million more frames per second. I’d need to check a sample video and give it a critique. The main point is that setting up memory usually requires a lot of time with plenty of testing between configurations. Plus, which games matter? Well, old-school titles like CSS CSGO would be more affected by CPU and memory changes since the engine depends heavily on the processor.

All storage options work since every AMD board defaults at 2133mt/s. This likely just means the DOCP profile supports AMD, but it doesn’t guarantee smooth performance. It’s mostly marketing language. Running at 20 to 30 fps is far beyond raw memory capability—only after overclocking can you see real gains. Including the infinity fabric overclock boosts performance most, which explains why I chose a 2667 xmp OC on an Intel setup. There’s no guaranteed 1:1 ratio; significant improvements like 30 fps aren’t realistic, especially at higher clock speeds. The main aim for gamers is boosting those tiny low-frame moments, and every small gain counts.

I've found success with G.Skill, Corsair and Micron memory. I'm discontinuing Micron now since they previously refused to replace a faulty DDR3 DIMM after installing a heatsink. It seems the process requires you to keep the heatsink on, which could have caused damage despite the DIMM failing in its warranty period. I thanked them and will avoid their products moving forward. If I had more time, I'd focus more on Steve. How much higher have they managed to boost FPS by adjusting timings? I experimented with DDR2 and DDR3 settings and might have gained 2-3 FPS. I say it could be that. The actual improvement was likely around 1 or 2 if considering all tests. I recall the early days when most games were CPU-intensive, like the first Monster3D by 3dfx. My friend owned one with 4MB VRAM. I only managed 2MB on my Diamond Monster3D. Speaking of which, Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II stood out. We played it and noticed the graphics were lacking; 3D acceleration was off by default. Once enabled, it performed significantly better in 1997. Those were memorable times. As I mentioned before, I haven't adjusted timing much lately. It's not worth the effort for just a few extra frames. If you could raise your average FPS by 10-15 without risking DIMM damage, that would be ideal. With current tech like CS:GO and a Ryzen 5000 series, I think they could reach 500+ FPS.
